National Seminar on Academic Publishing & Ethical use of Ai tools

 

The National seminar on Academic Publishing & ethical use of AI tools was successfully organised by the Library of Avinashilingam Institute for Homescience and Higher Education for Women on 30^th January 2026, with the active participation of nearly 120 participants. The sessions were highly intercative, fostering meaningful discussions and participant feedback showed that 62% rated the overall programme as excellent. Grateful to all the Resource Persons and participants who contributed to the success of this academic initiative. There were 110 participants.

Book Exhibition

 The Annual Library Book Exhibition was organised from 11.11.2025 to 13.11.2025 in the Library Premises, wherein 9 publishers and Booksellers participated, and Avinashilingam School Students also visited the exhibition and purchased books for their personal use.

Resource Person-SREC- National Level Seminar on "Research Tools and Emerging Trends in Library and Information Science (LIS)

 Served as a Resource Person for the one-day National level seminar on "Research Tools and Emerging  Trends in Library and Information  Science (LIS)" and handled a session titled "Ethical use of AI tools in academic Research and writing" on 10.10.2025. There were 50 participants across the state, including both Faculty members, Research Scholars, and postgraduate students.

Binding Workshop

 On 24th September 2025, we organised a state-level workshop "Mend your Book: A workshop on Book Binding and Preservation Techniques" wherein 30 library professionals from various Institutions across the state attended and completed a hands-on session on Binding of Books. Mr.K.Kandhaswamy, Proprietor, Sankar Book Binding, was the resource person. He gave a demo session in the morning and in the afternoon, participants did a hands-on session. Totally, there were 50 participants, of which 30 are professionals, 20 are students. The programme was concluded by 4.30pm and we took all of them to the Library for a visit. 

National Librarian's Day

 To commemorate the 133rd Birth Anniversary of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan, revered as the Father of Library Science in India, who was born on August 12th 1892, a competition titled " Book Hunt: Author Clue Challenge, Solve the Clues and find the book" was organised for the Libraries of both the campuses and Students of Allied Health Sciences have participated in the Central Library. There were nearly 400 participants, all of whom were extremely excited. In the campus I library, we gave four prizes. The next day, prize distribution and motivational talk was given by Dr.M.Mandhirasalam, Librarian, Dean(ARRA) and IQAC co-ordinator, Coimbatore Institute of Technology was the chief Guest.

Accessing ONOS Resources through Knimbus

 On 1st August, organised the session titled "Accessing ONOS Resources through Knimbus" in the Library from 10.30am-12.45pm. The speaker of the session was Mr.J.Manikandan, Training Manager, Knimbus,Bangalore. We organised session as follows:

11:35 am - 12:45 pm -  Staff members, research scholars, I st PG students from the School of Commerce & Management, School of Arts & Social Sciences
